Hello,

I tried to install Galaxy on a server and I am instantly getting the following error:

# git clone https://github.com/galaxyproject/galaxy/
# Initialized empty Git repository in /groups/meggalaxy/galaxy/.git/
# error: The requested URL returned error: 403
# warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout.

Hope somebody can help me!

Thanks a lot!

Maggie

Hello,

I just tested this out and it works OK (to a laptop running MAC OSX 10.9.5.

First, deleted anything prior and in a clean directory, try this again.

Next, make sure that you have permissions to write to the target directory.

If these do work, it could be that the site is blocked by your ISP (network provider). If that is the case, then you will need to communicate with them about how to unblock (if possible).

Sharing more details about your server would be the last step, although this may not lead to a solution as there can be many factors preventing download of external data.

I am making the assumption that your python version is correct and that git is installed on the server. See the http://getgalaxy.org wiki for details about that.

Best, Jen, Galaxy team
