I need to assemble an insect genome. The genome size is around 500Mb. I have performed genome sequencing in illumina platform, 150bp paired-end reads. I have trimmed forward and reverse reads and each of this files is around 45Gb. I have tried to assemble this dataset using SOAPdenovo and Abyss, but the process has killed for each try. Actually, I am running Abyss on a system with fairly good RAM capacity (128GB) but still, it is killed. I have tried at 64 and 96 Kmers. I do really need to assemble dataset as soon as it is possible, so I would be so grateful if anyone help me how can I tackle the problem.
