In setting up, I installed Python 2.7 and did what was prescribed in: https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/Admin/Python

mkdir ~/galaxy-python
ln -s /usr/local/bin/python2.7 ~/galaxy-python/python
export PATH=~/galaxy-python:$PATH

sh run.sh builds about half way and then I still get the error:

ERROR: Your python version is: 2.6
Galaxy is currently supported on Python 2.7 only.
...

I also tried setting up shell alias=python..., to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated. On CentOS 6.8

I'm still seeing this problem. I've been unable to run the current galaxy.

After installing galaxy and installing python2.7 as prescribed. then sh run.sh, It builds half way and then stops with this error.

Ultimately, my solution was to move to Centos 7, which has python 2.7.5 in the box.
