Question: Is there a way of extracting the attributes of a dataset (for instance the name) and pasting it into a new dataset?

When creating complex workflows with multiple input datasets processed in parallel it can be hard to keep track of which results go with which dataset. Is there a way of extracting the name attribute (or any attribute for that matter) from a dataset and using this to create a new dataset. The new (descriptive) dataset could then be concatenated to the output of the workflow.
